Dark Tales

Interactive horror — choices matter, rewind does not

Dark Tales is a mode in The Last Word unlike detective investigations. A narrator leads the story scene by scene; you decide what to do — under time pressure, with no way back to earlier lines.

Timed choice in Dark Tales
At the end of each beat you have seconds to choose.

Story catalog

Pick a tale from the in-app catalog — including a hotel, a train, a theatre, an archive and a lighthouse. Each has an estimated play time (roughly 8 to 15 minutes) and its own mood. Everything is fiction; characters and events are invented.

The narrator reads scene by scene. Text behind you fades into the dark; you cannot scroll back to earlier paragraphs. At each beat you pick one of several actions. You have limited time — if you choose nothing, chance decides.

The ending remembers

Paths branch, but there is no undo button. The ending reflects earlier choices — replay the same tale on a different route for a different finish.

You can listen to narration or read on your own, in Polish or English, independent of UI language. The mode requires internet (beats are generated as you play).

What it is not

Dark Tales is not suspect interrogation or word guessing. For a full noir investigation, pick Story Detective. For a quick yes/no word puzzle, pick Guess the Word. Dark Tales is a timed story with consequences.
